*OCTO has been delisted from Bittrex this week. You can no longer purchase OCTO on this exchange. Please check your Bittrex account and withdraw any OCTO you have on their exchange.

OCTO is currently building a team to bring Fantasy MMA to the Counterparty platform. However, unlike normal Fantasy Sports games, OCTO is going SOG style. We are going to incorporate trading cards into the fantasy sports game. Now, not only are users wagering currency, they will also wager a collectable trading card.

In theory, you could play a trading card that represents how the fight ends, such as Knockout, Technical Knockout, Decision or Submission, and reward players extra points for each fight that ends via those options. You could even have this become more specific by choosing a specific submission such as Triangle Choke, Armbar, Kneebar or Rear Naked Choke. When you have these options, not only does the card have betting value, but since there are so many options to end the fight, and different players may choose different options, it could affect the game's outcome, even if the player did not necessarily choose the general criteria correctly.

In this case study, we will keep it super simple. To enter, players must pay a specific amount of OCTO, and also must purchase a card that represents ONE fighter who fights on the MAIN CARD (not the FS1 Prelims). When a player purchases the trading card token representing the fighter, if that fighter wins their fight, they will receive a 5 POINT BONUS. If the player chooses a trading card token for a fighter who loses their match, they receive ZERO BONUS. IF the player chooses a card and the fighter DOES NOT WIN but DOES NOT LOSE and the MATCH IS A DRAW, they receive a 3 POINT BONUS. This is done this way, because it's easier to track than how many fights ended in multiple different options. The next Pre-Alpha Case Study we will attempt to try one of these options.

Typical Fantasy MMA Pick 'Em Rules will apply. The trading card token for 1 fighter will alter the outcome of the points by rewarding a 5, 3 or 0 point bonus.

SCORING CRITERIA

Selecting the correct Fighter Who Wins - 10 points

Selecting the correct Method of Win 5 points

Selecting the correct Round of Win 5 points

Selecting the correct Minute of Win 5 points

Bonus for selecting all of the above 4 criteria correctly per fight 10 points

RULES FOR DRAWS - You must pick the last round and the 5th minute in order to receive points for a draw - If you choose draw and do not pick Round 3 or 5 and minute 5, you will NOT receive the points. PAY ATTENTION. RULES FOR DECISION WINS - You must pick the last round and the 5th minute in order to receive points for a decision - If you choose decision and do not pick Round 3 or 5 and minute 5, you will NOT receive the points. PAY ATTENTION. SPLIT DECISIONS WILL STILL COUNT AS A DECISION

We will only choose fights from the main card. This will not include preliminary fights so that the point talley and creation of OCTO Fighter Trading Card Tokens are easier.

The main card includes: Main Event - Henderson VS Belfort, Teixeira VS Cummins, Almeida VS Birchak, Oliveira VS Hallmann, Burns VS Magomedov, and Maldonado VS Anderson. Only these 6 fights are allowed this time.

IF there are any changes this time to the card before it happens, that specific fight is voided from the points total for both players. This is only to avoid having to recreate the picks. It's easier and fair to void that fight and only allow points from fights that had no changes due to fighter injury, pullout or cancellation of that fight. This time we will not add any replacement fights, so if 1 fight is canceled for any reason out of the 6, then we only count points from the other 5 fights that actually happened. This could potentially hurt players who chose an OCTO Fighter Trading Card, by causing them not to receive their bonus.

When you submit your picks, it gives you the option to view the results after you have submitted.

We will create the OCTO Fighter Card Tokens and post to the DEX this week. Payment must be submitted by 11 PM EST on Friday, November 6th.

This is pretty short term because I do not want way too many entries on this first test run.

Good luck! Pick your winners. Results will be pulled from www.ufc.com. The single winner will receive payment on Sunday November 8 of all incoming OCTO and cards. Please give us some time to tally the score. We will make all the results public via the google spreadsheet and of course you are able to view results after you submit your picks. Please DO NOT submit picks and then not pay. Anyone who submits picks without payment will be removed from the game prior to the start of the fight card on Saturday.

Let me hear your thoughts and suggestions here!

So I've sent my 125,000 OCTO and a OCTOALPHADH (Dan Henderson) token to the entry address.

I know this is a short notice. There will be much more notice for the next test. However, this is a free fight on tv, so I couldn't pass it up. I am hoping to have at least 5 entries.

So, I have thought about sweetening the pot. When players purchase their card token, we will probably price it in XCP. I am considering adding the funds from selling the cards to the pot. I'd say about 50%. So the winner will take all OCTO, cards and 50% of the XCP raised.

No takers for this one. I'll update the thread and we will be doing the next UFC pay-per-view instead of this one.

I am currently working with an artist to create the first cards. Depending on the cards created, we will shoot for a UFC card before the end of 2015.

I'm glad I didn't bet on the Ronda Rousey fight as I would have lost. Shocker!!! She needs to change her "team" and get back to basics.

The fight between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor on Saturday night in Vegas, my money is easily on McGregor. Looking forward to this one.

PS: I had a cage fight last week and the budgie never saw what hit him. ^-^ Feathers were everywhere.

Yeah McGregor took that one ridiculously easy. I expected a decent fight. We couldn't get this up in time for this PPV due to the holidays. We are going to try this again at the beginning of the new year.

At first it will be just done through forms on www.theoctoparty.com but I do have a possible developer to code the actual site. We are still in talks with him. I am also still trying to figure out how to do the points system for cards.
