Need help with tables

The article that I am writing requires many tables. Apparently markdown tables work on the site? I can't figure out how to do it though. Every time I try to input a Markdown table it renders in text, not as a table. Can someone help me? Here is an example of one table:

Header 1	Header 2	Header 3
1	145	0.00283
2	289	0.00566
5	723	0.01416
6	868	0.01699

What else do I need to do? I have never used markdown before.

  OK, so it works in the forum post, but not in the articles? What can I do? My article REALLY needs tables, and I don't want to do them as graphics! Can I use HTML?

  In the blog post editor (which doesnt use markdown at the moment), click on "Table" then "Insert Table"
