Melotic: I thought the whole point was that counterparty was a decentralized exchange

The advantages that I see right now are: 1) More liquidity 2) It doesn't require you to keep your counterwallet open 3) No posting fees (just trade fees)

speed is a huge factor here. Decentralized exchange is great because we dont have to rely on the existance of a regular exchange.. but in order for any trades to go though, you need to wait for at least 10 minutes or more for a block confirmation, which can make things pretty slow. there are trade offs for both types of exchange

I have a feeling the dex will be used once there are more people using counterwallet. I'm sure there will also be a lot of wallets with great trading abilities to come.

The new counterwallet DEX is up and it's pretty slick. Decentralized exchanges are just another option. They won't necessarily end all centralized exchanges.... yet.

Competition is a good thing, whether it is decentralized or not. Its good to give people options and have fail-safes.

And really we all saw what happened when there was only 1 main exchange in a unregulated system....ugh
