Is your line of work for local, international customers or something in between?

I used to think that there was a certain advantage of serving international clients, namely by arbitrating over larger distances, you get a better price-value ratio, bring in more money, boost your country's GDP, and so on.

However after watching Makers - The New Industrial Revolution from former editor-in-chief of Wired magazine, Chris Anderson, it looks like our societies are increasingly benefiting from material goods produced locally. It is very interesting to see this local-international financial dynamic with crypto i.e. by creating a universal, distributed ledger individuals are being empowered.

Thoughts? If you currently tailor to an international audience do you see advantages in setting up shop to go local?

My main work is graphic design and print production. Most of my business comes from local companies, though I do have customers throughout the country, and some out of country (thanks to Bitcoin).

While I'm not even sure I understood your opening statement (perhaps over my head -- want to restate it very simply), I'll say that your question seems to be focused on tangible goods rather than services or intangible things like logos. I'm not answering your question at all, but just wanted to point out that a lot of business is about service, not physical goods.

True, the service economy exists in North America. Actually it is widespread and huge, and that's one of the underlying facts that reinforces Chris Anderson's argument that we'll be seeing an increase in industry.

I guess then the better question for the forums is whether you're in industry, service, or agriculture and then where on the local-international spectrum at that.
