I noticed that the incentive structure for commenting is almost as rewarding and listening to the content. My worry is that this incentivizes people who would otherwise stay quiet to post filler comments just so they can earn points.

Does it really make sense to offer such high rewards for comments?

Who is to say what is and what is not a "filler" comment? IMHO I think participation in the discussion in any form, is good for the forum.

The community could determine what a 'filler' comment would be. Comments could be upvoted in a fashion similar to reddit. I'd be surprised if something wasn't in the works as we speak. You could even use amounts of LTBc to up or down vote. An individual or agency could pay for high rate comments in LTBc.

Is it an idea to reward people based on their feedback. That the number of upvotes of comments and articles determines the reward. This is a way to discern between quality and quantity.

It's hard because when you go down the moderation road then you have to deal with differences of opinion and such. Maybe not a problem in a small community but gets worse the larger it grows
